Introduce
DiaMood is an IoT floor lamp with sensorial lighting system to enrich atmosphere. For instance, when user switch to Relax mood, DiaMood will provide relative material and user can enjoy and immerse in that atmosphere.
There are the DiaMood features:
•Provide sensorial lighting system.
•Switch different lighting mood by App.
•Fundamental light function.
•Emotional detection for changing lighting mode automatically.
Problems & Challenges
DiaMood is a project just leave lab stage. But its brightness issue always be complained during internal exhibition. All visitors feel weak, but how many lumen is IDEAL for DiaMood? We need scientific data for reference and improvement.
Besides, I am also responsible for planning and development new SKU of DiaMood. In new SKU, our challenges is that brainstorm the fresh function to show our innovative power.
Test Method
We use 9-point to test the illuminance quickly. In our scenario, DiaMood will be set in living room. According to WIKI's data, the brightness in living room is 300 lux, we set 0 and 300 lux separately and invited 5 users to find out what lumen is comfort in 300 lux environment.
Test Result
We calculated the data from 5 volunteers, we get the result of DiaMood's illuminance. Basic is 135 ANSI LM, optimize is 240 ANSI LM. These data will help us find right component and vendor and persuade potential customer for get orders.
Lighting System
Lighting system is an unique feature in DiaMood. User can control atmosphere mode by App or voice (need connect with Voice Assistant, like: Alexa). This feature can be applied on other light product line. In next generation, we plan to detect people's emotion, and the light will change with people's emotion, it is a good way to adjust our daily life.
Achievenent
With my help, DiaMood has a design principle of illuminance which leads the team to improve product. We search components and vendors to build DiaMood V1.5 based on principle. Finally, DiaMood works very well in 0~300 lux environment and earn the assistance from company to apply iF design competition 2019.
